Penta Teknoloji continues to grow in 2021 with the wind of ‘digitalization’ at its back

Having achieved a greater growth performance than many other sectors since last year, the industry of information technologies steers Turkey’s sustainable development. Penta Teknoloji Managing Director Mürsel Özçelik says: “Technology is one of the most important building blocks in the development of countries. Today, many sectors including manufacturing, finance, education, and transportation are transforming and gaining strength through technology.”

Growing significantly in Turkey as well as globally, the information technologies industry continued to grow in the first quarter of 2021 with the particular impact of last year’s widespread remote working and education. Turkish Statistical Institute’s (TÜİK) GDP report for the first quarter of 2021 (January-March) highlighted the fact that the information technologies industry achieved a growth of 18.1 percent. On the other hand, according to IDC’s “ICT Market Outlook for Turkey” which covers the infrastructure and software domain, annual IT expenses gained significant momentum in dollars in the period extending from 2019 into 2020. IDC’s “ICT Market Forecast for Turkey” remarked that the upward trend in technology expenses will continue in 2021 as well. Regarding the industry, Mürsel Özçelik, Managing Director of Penta Teknoloji, which has been distributing information technology products including computer, software, server, data storage, and networking products for over 30 years, said: “In recent years, digital awareness has been rapidly growing in our country as well as globally; both the global and local markets have matured. In the new normal which emerged particularly as a result of last year’s forced digitalization, technology has assumed a central position in everyone’s lives, accelerating digital transformation in all sectors in our country. We estimate that the information technology products market of which we are a distributor has a growth potential for the future and that we will also become more powerful as a company in parallel with digital transformation.”

Snowball effect on the demand for technology

Highlighting that technological advancements mirror the future of all sectors, and stating that technology will increasingly assume a more important role in terms of Turkey’s sustainable development, Penta Teknoloji Managing Director Mürsel Özçelik said: “When we look at the information technologies industry, we see a market size that exceeded USD 4.3 billion in 2020 according to IDC’s report on market research for the IT market in Turkey. As meetings, events, education, and even social activities moved online last year, a snowball effect took place on the demand for technological products. We believe that the information technologies market will gain further strength in the upcoming period thanks to the recent increase in the need for technological products and the increasing accessibility of such products in particular. The figures of the quarter of 2021 also reveal a continued interest in information technologies. Today; sectors such as manufacturing, finance, education, and transportation that are of great importance for our lives are transforming through technology. And, we contribute to our country’s digital transformation with the end-to-end technology solutions we have been offering to individual and corporate users for over 30 years.”

Over 40 technology brands delivered to the Turkish market

Highlighting that the growth in the industry had a positive impact on Penta Teknoloji’s financial results as well, Özçelik added: “Last year, we achieved a growth of more than 20 percent in dollars as a company last year. In the same vein, we achieved a year-on-year growth of approximately 35 percent in dollars, which was greater than the market average in the first quarter of 2021. And on a comparative basis, our growth rates reveal that we achieved a growth of 63 percent in Turkish Liras. As of today, we deliver the products of more than 40 technology giants to users all across Turkey in collaboration with our 9 thousand partners. At the same time, the sector in which we operate continues to be the driving force for many sectors with its momentum of rapid growth. According to KPMG’s Global CEO Survey conducted with CEOs, it is expected that the corporate demand for digital technology solutions such as automation, artificial intelligence, and cloud-based technologies will increasingly gain strength in the near future. On the other hand, the gaming industry which is one of the sectors with the most intense technology consumption by end-users also continues to grow rapidly. A research conducted by estimates that the global gaming market will grow by 72 percent in 2025 in comparison to 2020. Since the day we founded Penta Teknoloji, we are committed to differentiating ourselves and making progress in the technology sector which has a great potential for our country. This is the vision behind the services we offer to our customers and suppliers. As Penta Teknoloji, we will continue to improve ourselves in consideration of the satisfaction of all our stakeholders as well as changing and transforming trends by taking actions to support our country’s digitalization process.”
